Privacy PolicyChrome Browser Extension
The Jotverse browser extension enables users to save web content directly to their Jotverse account for AI-powered learning.
Data collected by the extension:
- Authentication credentials: Email and password are sent directly to Jotverse servers via HTTPS to authenticate the user. An API token is stored locally in the browser using Chrome’s Storage API.
- Page content: When the user explicitly clicks “Send to Jotverse,” the extension reads the content of the currently active tab. This may include page text, YouTube video transcripts, or PDF documents. Content is only accessed upon explicit user action — never automatically or in the background.
- Page metadata: The URL, page title, and (for YouTube) channel name of the active tab are collected alongside the content.
How the data is used: All collected content is transmitted via HTTPS to Jotverse servers, where it is processed using OpenAI’s API to generate AI-powered study tutors, summaries, and learning materials. Content is stored in the user’s Jotverse account.
Data not collected: The extension does not collect browsing history, does not run on pages the user has not explicitly chosen to save, and does not track user behavior across websites. No data is shared with third parties other than OpenAI for content processing, as described above.
Local storage: The extension stores the following data locally in the browser: authentication token, user display name and email, and processing status information. This data can be cleared by logging out of the extension or removing it from Chrome.
